What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture has more than 2000 years of history in China and is considered the oldest and the most common form of healing practices in the world. It involves the insertion of very thin metallic needles at specific points on the body, known as the acupoints, and the aim is to restore your body’s natural function and maintain health through the regulation and restoration of Qi flow in the body.
How does acupuncture work?
The manipulations of Acupuncture treatment can:
* Unblock channel obstructions
* Restore imbalance of Yin & Yang
* Regulate the functional activity of the body
* Restore and regulate the function of the viscera
* Transport and stimulate the circulation of channel Qi & blood
* Nourish the whole body and strengthen its resistance to prevent and fight disease
What to Expect After Treatment:
Your relief may be immediate, delayed for a few hours, or even develop after 1 to 3 days. The relief may last for a few hours on the first visit and then last longer with each successive treatment. OR, relief may last from the first treatment until your next visit. It is important to recognize that we are all individuals. Individual response to treatment varies.
Generally speaking, acupuncture does not involve too many side effects or risks, especially when compared to other forms of therapeutic treatments. Many of the common side effects are minor, such as bruising, bleeding, and soreness after the treatment. Another common reaction is the worsening of the original symptoms for a few days after an acupuncture treatment.
